Happy holidays from the Fusion 360 team! To celebrate this festive season, we kicked off our Christmas CAM Challenge, where we asked our social media community to design ornaments with the chance to have theirs machined live at our Birmingham Tech Center. We were so impressed with your creative submissions that we want to share some of our favorites, along with the live machining video, here.
Festive Reindeer
The challenge brief emphasized design for manufacture by including a list of restraints. After all, a product design is of no use if it can’t be made. The pros in our Birmingham Tech Center ultimately decided to machine @arcturusmakes’ festive reindeer ornament (shown in both images above) because it didn’t require bespoke fixturing to machine it. We also love that he added some sparkly Christmas tree context in the render and utilized the Fusion 360 logo as antlers. Watch the live machining video below:
Here are a few others that put smiles on our faces!
Musical Angel
This angel by @tanner_k380 is simply stunning. Bonus points for the Fusion 360 logo placement (can you find it?) and the fluid textures.
Festival of Lights
We’re not sure if Hanukkah intentionally inspired this ornament by @inverted_loop, but we love how it resembles the Star of David. We hope everyone who celebrates Hanukkah had a great holiday.
An Updated Classic
The Grinch may have stolen Christmas, but @alectrodesign‘s interpretation of Max from the Grinch stole our hearts. The single Fusion 360 logo as antlers? Genius.
Christmas Countdown
This hourglass ornament by @ruchit.tnpr perfectly encapsulates our inner child’s daily Christmas countdown.
Wavy Tree
A classic tree for a classic logo. We loved @krude45‘s take on the Fusion 360 logo and their tree’s wavy texture. Who wouldn’t want to put presents under this tree?
Santa’s Sleigh
@daxpatel45‘s use of this iconic Santa graphic and red and gold color scheme makes us nostalgic every time. You can almost hear the sleigh bells ringing and Santa’s bold laugh as he travels through the sky.
Thanks again to everyone who participated. We loved all the entries so much, it was hard to choose. You can check them all out here. Stay tuned for next year’s challenge, and in the meantime, we wish you all a happy holiday season and a happy New Year!
