AU2023 officially kicks off today! There’s a lot of exciting news to share, and one thing has been made very clear: Autodesk Fusion has a bright future ahead. So, we’d like to share some of the announcements, look at the future of Fusion, and outline some key changes.
Last year at Autodesk University 2022, we introduced the Fusion industry cloud for manufacturing, and this year, we are excited to communicate this vision even further.
What is the Fusion industry cloud for manufacturing?
Imagine if you could achieve productivity gains, make better decisions, and maintain a competitive advantage by unlocking the value of an open data model and automation tools. Imagine if you could further bridge the gap between engineering, development, machining, and business processes.
Introducing your path to the future of manufacturing. Fusion industry cloud for manufacturing will represent a new era of connected data and collaboration for individuals, teams, and entire organizations to design and make anything.
CAD, CAM, CAE, PCB, data management (PLM, PDM), MES, and more will be integrated into one unified experience, enabling advanced automation, AI capabilities, and streamlining of workflows.
The Fusion industry cloud will provide a single source of project data across your organization and supply chain through the Autodesk data model. By ensuring everyone has access to the same data, you can eliminate repetitive tasks and processes, accelerate productivity, and provide critical real-time insights about product development and business operations.
Ultimately, Fusion industry cloud will:
- Deliver a growing set of unique capabilities within a responsive user experience that connects data tools and end-to-end workflows between product design, engineering, data management, and manufacturing.
- Offer automation tools that allow users to streamline processes and improve productivity.
- Provide an open and flexible product development ecosystem, as it is built on Autodesk Platform Services and the Autodesk data model. The data model API allows developers to read, write, and extend product design and manufacturing data in the cloud, allowing you to build custom end-to-end workflows to increase your operational efficiency and solve your hardest design to manufacturing challenges.
- Provide organizations, teams, and individuals with a trusted platform. All data is created and stored in the manufacturing data model, providing a single source of project data across your organization and supply chain.
Our commitment to value—what’s now and what’s next for Autodesk Fusion
Since the inception of Fusion a decade ago, we’ve been committed to delivering the best cloud product development solution on the market. In the past three years, we’ve delivered more than 100 product updates and 650 new features and enhancements. We will continue to deliver on our promise of reimagining workflows and being your trusted partner as you bring products to life.
This year alone, we’ve delivered five major updates focusing on new and improved features across design and engineering, electronics, and manufacturing. Features such as configurations, fastener libraries, automated modeling, advanced geometry tools, multi-axis deposition, and continued toolpath improvements continue to reinforce our commitment to delivering power, flexibility, automation, and unparalleled performance.
We’ve also put quality, performance, and stability front and center. We’re making significant improvements to how Fusion runs on macOS as well as Windows machines. Fusion now runs natively on Apple silicon chipsets, uses native macOS trackpad engine for gesture processing, and has high DPI scaling support on Windows. We have also increased performance and stability when it comes to working with large model assemblies.
Some additional highlights include:
- A start-up/launch time up to 80% faster
- Assembly performance up to 86% faster
- Sketch performance up to 20x faster
- Visibility changes up to 32x faster
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. In the future, we’re introducing automated drawings, BOM (Bill of Materials), and more. We’ll also continue to invest in connected manufacturing data operations, sustainability insights, and partnership connections.
For example, just today we announced an exciting new partnership with Cadence that connects Cadence’s PCB design capabilities directly to Fusion, enabling data to flow in both directions.
What’s changing?
