EVPP - BIM Implementation with the AEC Collection

Customer challenge

Egozcue-Vidal-Pastorino-Pozzolo (also known by the acronym EVPP Arquitectos) is an Argentine architecture studio that has been active since 1966 to the present. With fifty years of professional work, they have completed a large number of works, specializing in hospital architecture, and among them the Garrahan National Pediatric Hospital, the Rufino Inda neighborhood in Mar del Plata, the Costa Salguero Exhibition Center, the Judicial City of Santa Rosa, the expansion of the Pedro de Elizalde Hospital and the project for the new Civic District of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires.

EVPP began working in 1966, when they won first prize in the Home School competition for the National Institute of Psychophysical Rehabilitation for the Municipality of Buenos Aires (finally not built), for which Fernando Aftalión, Bernardo Bischof, María Teresa were associated Egozcue and Guillermo Vidal, founders of the original team.

The company already had Autodesk AEC Collection and decided to implement Autodesk BIM to be more efficient and centralize all project information in a digital model.

Project goals

The objectives of implementing Autodesk BIM 360 were the following:

  1. The main objective for EVPP was to have a single source of information in the company. That all project information is in a common place.
  2. Represent the current state of construction.
  3. Implement controlled collaboration of work teams. Stop working as isolated islands.
  4. Be able to manage the different levels of access to the project.
  5. Reduce IT costs.
  6. Be able to have a traceable version history.

Solution

The Autodesk BIM 360 solution was implemented. For this, it was necessary to hold prior meetings to understand the client's needs and requirements. Then, the equipment was installed and configured.

Project engineers were trained. The duration of the implementation spanned 1 month. With post-sales technical support and follow-up sessions, Cadsyst, the service provider, ensures the correct use of the software. An exchange of technical consultations was maintained between the instructor and the users during the following months.

Business outcome

Before the implementation of Autodesk BIM 360, employees worked in isolation, all documentation was disorganized, there was no correct traceability of the project, which generated an impact in lost time and costs.

Thanks to Autodesk BIM 360 they were able to implement a collaborative way of working, having all the information documented in a single source of information, which allowed them to be more efficient in terms of time and costs.

Conclusion

Autodesk BIM 360 improved the delivery of construction projects by supporting informed decision making throughout the project lifecycle. From design collaboration, documentation and reviews, to preconstruction, through quality and safety and operations.

Nastran In-CAD Implementation Project - SICA

SICA METALÚRGICA ARGENTINA S.A. is a company specialized in the design and manufacture of pressure vessels for the Oil, Gas and Chemical industry. Their need was the implementation of a simulation solution for product engineering that could optimize and predict the behavior of designs and/or products in a fast, precise and flexible way before manufacturing them. They chose to incorporate Autodesk Nastran In-CAD, since it supports finite element analysis (FEA) and allows the evaluation of thermal and mechanical behaviors in linear and non-linear materials.

Fusion 360 Implementation Project - Pulpak

Pulpak is a company dedicated to providing a comprehensive solution to the problem of industrial waste. The Company offers an attractive portfolio of ecologically friendly packaging products including solutions that enable the end consumer to dispose of the packaging without causing environmental damage, being this product is 100% recyclable and biodegradable. The Company operates in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego (Argentina) where its industrial plant is located and in the City of Buenos Aires with a commercial and administration team. The need was the implementation of a solution for product engineering that could produce packaging and protective packaging materials for other items: televisions, computers, microwaves, refrigerators, etc. in 3D and develop from 2D plans. Autodesk Fusion 360 was the right solution as it combines parametric, direct and mesh modeling tools. It is also completely cloud-based, promoting collaboration for remote teams.

Autodesk Inventor Professional Training Project – ETC S.A.

ETC S.A. is an Argentine company with vast experience in the manufacturing of expanded metal and perforated sheet metal. They have the technology to process a wide range of gauges of various materials, covering all lines in both expanded metals and perforated sheets.ETC had the need to be able to incorporate a tool that would allow them to see, create, analyze and document their designs of folded and perforated sheets, electro welded meshes, finishing profiles, metal floors and stairs and perimeter closures in 3D and not only in 2D. They chose to incorporate Autodesk Inventor Professional, for its powerful integrated tools for sheet metal and structure design and the ease in viewing, creating and documenting their 3D designs.
