Autodesk Revit Implementation

Autodesk Revit Implementation

Customer challenge

PQR is one of the primary engineering-consulting firms in the international market. As a complete installation-consulting firm, PQR’s confidence along with measures and implement will take them closer to their goal of being an international leader. PQR saw an increased demand for delivering projects in 3D and therefore wanted to develop the business in the right direction. The difficulty in the development process was in the starting point, due to lack of competence and time.

Project goals

From the beginning, the customer's focus was to switch from 2D to 3D to win more projects, but during a discovery workshop we were able to make the customer aware of that there are several benefits with Autodesk BIM, such as collision checks and that it is easier to communicate in the project. Therefore, the goal was changed from only focusing on the transition from 2D to 3D, to see the possibilities with transitioning to Autodesk BIM and make an implementation of BIM. The customer wanted to be able to win more deals and be able to deliver a more future-proof project.

Solution

By using Autodesk Revit, the customer was able to use the power of BIM and all the benefits that BIM offers. Self-monitoring, collision detection and communication are some of the benefits that Autodesk Revit brings to the customer. With the help of Autodesk Revit, the customer can now win several unique BIM projects and call themselves a company at the forefront of development. Autodesk Revit has enabled the customer to deliver not only high quality 3D projects but even a BIM project.

Business outcome

We were able to show PQR that there is more to gain than the customer's primary wishes, such as higher quality in the projects. With the right focus and after mapping super users, we were able to train and support the customer to switch to Autodesk Revit in their projects. Along the way, we have discovered that PQR also needs support in lifting projects from 2D and their template files to 3D.

Conclusion

We discovered early that there is a single-track desire from PQR to switch to 3D and focus only on 3D itself. As we trained and discussed with the customer from a strategic perspective, we were able to make the PQR realize the other benefits of the step to 3D. Next step will be about how we expand the competence within the company and how we together can use other benefits of 3D design.

System Integration: Vault with Monitor ERP

Cflow is expanding and they faced a couple of different challenges preventing them to grow in a good way. With huge lack of Item and BOM control and no connection between PDM (Vault) and ERP systems, the time waste was high. A lot of manual actions were required and the need to create the same information many times often occurred. Low reuse of parts led to an "everything is custom" mentality which is very inefficient for the company.

Connected Quality Processes with Fusion 360 Manage

Lindab suffered from old disconnected IT systems within Quailty. This led to difficulties regarding tracking and responding to claims. To have a broken digital chain of information gave a lot of waste, both time-wise & money-wise. Having the right visual KPIs was a challenge for Lindab. Not being able to track and understand the root cause was also a problem. The situation of not having the right data at the hand can lead to wrong decisions.

Intrx gained increased quality in their project management with Fusion 360 Manage

Intrx wanted to increase the quality in their project management and also offer a better solution for supplier collaboration. Early in the projects they wanted to see where more resources where needed to be able to reach the goals of the project. They also wanted to have a modern solution and platform for all the processes and to be able to adapt to future demands.
