BIM for Wastewater & Infrastructure Projects

BIM for Wastewater & Infrastructure Projects

Customer challenge

Lee + Ro Engineers is a multi-discipline engineering firm that designs water infrastructure projects such as waste water and water treatment facilities. Lee + Ro reached out to TITAN AEC for a solution focused consulting.  They were not happy with their reseller-based training.  Lee + Ro sought for a company that understood their business and design needs.

Lee + Ro understood that they need to embrace BIM to remain competitive in the market place.

Project goals

Lee + Ro brought in TITAN AEC due to our extensive expertise in infrastructure project delivery coupled with our vast experience in the Autodesk product portfolio.  Lee + Ro saw the value in building information modeling (BIM).  Many of their projects were designed and delivered using AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, and Autodesk Infraworks.  They realized that the BIM transition using Autodesk Revit was not an overnight process.

We offered the various consulting services:

  1. Project based training on Autodesk Revit & BIM Collaborate Pro
  2. Customized Revit template creation based on current CAD standards
  3. Project based support (when requested)

Solution

TITAN AEC performed a preliminary process assessment.  After gathering data from the preliminary assessment, we suggested a workflow based training class coupled with the creation of a custom multi-discipline Revit template to address their design workflow.  TITAN AEC conveyed to Lee + Ro that we have the experience to customize the use of Revit and the graphics standards to match their current design and construction document standards.

Business outcome

After the completion of training, surveys were issued.  Client satisfaction was rated at over 85%.  The client was pleased with how the instructor tailored their approach to address the client's specific design workflows, and they valued the insights on how these methods could be implemented within Autodesk Revit.  The client has reached out to TITAN AEC for another round of training.

Below is the implementation timeline:

  1. February 2023 - TITAN AEC delivered multi-discipline Autodesk Revit Training at their location.
  2. June 2023 - TITAN AEC delivered customized Revit template for the client.
  3. February 2024 - TITAN AEC has been contracted to deliver another round of training focusing on architecture and structural engineering disciplines.

Conclusion

TITAN AEC delivered customized project based training based on preliminary workflow assessment.  In order to save time & travel costs, TITAN AEC deployed their mobile training lab to their office conference room.  Our team developed a multi-discipline training for Revit that included architecture, structure, mechanical, electrical & plumbing.  We also discussed how to integrate Revit models into Autodesk Infraworks to leverage the building information model for stakeholder presentations.
