Bringing Vietnamese Engineers’ Expertise To The World Through Autodesk Civil 3D

Customer challenge

In the early days of, AXA Engineers faced numerous challenges while exploring various business models and industries. However, their path became clear with the discovery of Autodesk Civil 3D, a software that perfectly aligned with their needs and aspirations.

Additionally, the workflows struggle with interdepartmental coordination, depend heavily on human input, and face significant challenges in advancing the company's digital transformation.

Project goals

  • Bringing Vietnamese Engineers’ Expertise to the World: AXA Engineers aims to showcase the skills of Vietnamese civil engineers on a global stage, especially targeting markets
  • Digital Transform: Embedding digital transformation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaboration and Innovation: Fostering a culture of collaboration without borders and continuous learning.
  • All Project Phases: Expertise spans from survey topo production to Master Plans, CDs, and As-built documentation.

In summary, AXA Engineers is focused on global expansion, enhancing their service offerings, leveraging advanced technology, fostering sustainable business practices, building strong client relationships, and continuously improving and innovating to achieve their vision of global engineering excellence.

Solution

  • Infraworks: Leveraging Infraworks to integrate GIS data, 3D models, and contextual information, creating comprehensive models that facilitate early-stage planning and visualization. These models enable stakeholders to visualize the project in its real-world context, leading to faster decision-making and increased buy-in.
  • Civil 3D: This software is pivotal in developing detailed 3D models, seamlessly handling complex terrain, utility layouts, and intricate infrastructure integration. These comprehensive models foster collaboration among various disciplines, including civil, structural, and MEP engineers, ensuring smooth coordination and preventing costly conflicts. Additionally, Autodesk Civil 3D allows to efficiently create accurate topographies and existing condition plans from point files, providing a solid foundation for our design process.
  • Dynamo:  Utilizing Dynamo to automate repetitive tasks such as creating complex geometries and generating construction documents (CDs), significantly increasing efficiency and reducing the potential for human error.
  • Grading Optimization: This feature streamlines the creation of grading plans, balancing cut-and-fill operations, minimizing waste, and reducing environmental impact.
  • Storm and Sanitary Analysis (SSA): Leveraging seamless integration between Autodesk Civil 3D and Storm and Sanitary Analysis (SSA), perform advanced hydraulic simulations to optimize stormwater systems and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. By accurately predicting water flow and storage needs, we design cost-effective and environmentally responsible drainage solutions.
  • Vehicle Tracking: By analyzing and designing vehicle movement throughout the project site, we can plan efficient and safe transportation routes for both construction vehicles and future users.
  • As-Built Documentation: Upon project completion, Utilizing the data-rich BIM models to generate comprehensive as-built documentation for ongoing maintenance and operations.

Business outcome

Autodesk's comprehensive suite of technologies, including Autodesk Civil 3D, Infraworks, Dynamo, SSA, Vehicle Tracking, and the Construction Cloud, has empowered AXA Engineers to embrace digital transformation at every stage of the project lifecycle. This has not only streamlined their workflows and enhanced design capabilities but also fostered a culture of collaboration and innovation, ultimately delivering superior results for clients. Additionally, the powerful software has not only enabled AXA Engineers to soar beyond their geographical borders but has also allowed us to dream bigger, strive for excellence, and continually add value to clients worldwide.

Tackle Complex Surfaces with Autodesk PowerMill Advanced Toolpaths

Kenstone was dealing with complex shapes for their jigs and fixtures to support assembly. The existing CAM solution that the customer is using cannot fulfill the need for a solution to tackle complex shapes and quickly generate toolpaths for CNC machines. Dealing with numerous parts that needed to be machined required a shortened lead time for programming and machining. Especially the complex shapes must be in good surface quality. Autodesk PowerMill was identified to likely be the best solution that solved both the important time and quality need. Moreover, the possibility of automated programming will be a big advantage to achieve more production.

Artistic Die Components Quality Achieved with Autodesk PowerMill

In the first stage of establishing their manufacturing facilities, the Marigot Manufacturing Manager is looking for a comprehensive CAM Solution with the best support to assist with onboarding new staff and new machines with an efficient workflow. The challenge is that their products are very complex as the shape for the artistic jewelry, watches and decoration components are small in size. Implementation is vital, especially new staff who need specific training to get used to the solution and the shape of the part. OneCAD Vietnam approached Marigot and took on the challenge very seriously by helping with CAM programming on their parts and supervising the machining to make sure they understood the best process and cutting parameters for hardened material like SKD.

From Autodesk Product Design & Manufacturing Collection to Advanced CAM Solution

A long-time user of the Product Design & Manufacturing Collection (PDMC), Autodesk has given the ASAMA Team a comprehensive toolset to address their design and manufacturing challenges. For example, from drawing 2D to 3D models to great rendering tools for marketing the product even before the actual product is manufactured. There are no questions about the value received from the Autodesk Product Design & Manufacturing Collection, but for a market that evolves very fast and demand of customers is very high, ASAMA recognized the need to implement even more advanced manufacturing solutions including PowerMill. Autodesk PowerMill is world famous for its dedicated strategies, high finishing quality and time savings in the actual machining process.
