Empowering Metso Outotec to Carry Out Autodesk Vault Merging & Data Migration Quickly and Independently

Empowering Metso Outotec to Carry Out Autodesk Vault Merging & Data Migration Quickly and Independently

Customer challenge

Metso Outotec is a frontrunner in sustainable technologies, end-to-end solutions and services for the aggregates, minerals processing and metals refining industries globally. They improve their customers’ energy and water efficiency, increase their productivity, and reduce environmental risks with their product and process expertise. The purpose of Metso Outotec is to enable sustainable modern life, and they aim to create solutions to accelerate sustainability in the industries they operate in.

Challenges included importing data from a diversity of other systems like SAP and Windows Explorer, as well as adjusting the sources so that the data would fit the target Vault.

Project goals

Faced with the need to merge over 20 Autodesk Vaults (Basic and Professional), Metso needed a reliable partner to carry out data migration and integration successfully and within a reasonable timeframe.

Solution

Since the data had to be imported from a wide variety of different sources, the company opted to carry out the migration independently, in order to speed up the process and reduce the constant need for communication with the partner.

Hence, we provided our user-friendly software components allowing the company to manage the whole project internally with only a basic knowledge of SQL needed to modify the data via SQL Management Studio.

As a result, Metso was able to adjust the Vault Basic data to Autodesk Vault Professional behaviors, improve the quality of data from different source Vaults so that they would fit the target Vault, and successfully merge 6 Vaults within a timeframe of barely 9 months.

Business outcome

As a result, Metso was able to adjust Vault Basic data to Autodesk Vault Professional behaviours, improve the quality of data from different source Vaults so that they would fit the target Vault, and successfully merge 6 Vaults within a timeframe of barely 9 months.

Conclusion

COOLORANGE was helping us along the entire process. Without we wouldn’t have succeeded in analyzing, consolidating, merging and loading the data into Vault”

Enhancing Engineering Efficiency and Supply Chain with Autodesk Vault Integration at KUKA

The initial setup involved running three powerJobs on three different designer computers to generate PDF files as needed. The intention was to save a dedicated machine and CAD license. This required the respective designer to become the job-processing machine if necessary. This situation did not allow for timely execution and reliability. Discussing with the customer, it became clear that the Inventor Server would not require a license, and a dedicated machine would ensure convenient and reliable performance. The complete powerJobs solution would then improve overall job queue processes, and designers would be able to focus on their primary tasks.

HOERBIGER Enhances Engineering Efficiency with Autodesk Vault and coolOrange Solutions

In 1895, the steel plate valve invented by Hanns Hörbiger is patented. The valve plate opens when the gas pressure is high enough and closes as long as the spring pressure is higher than the gas pressure. The HOERBIGER steel plate valve brings about a tremendous improvement in performance. HOERBIGER's performance-critical products and services enable customers and partners from various industries to improve the performance and safety of their products and operations, save energy, and reduce emissions. Hoerbiger wanted to replace the current Vault-SAP integration within three months. The current integration was quite expensive in terms of both, software licenses and maintenance. It was also cumbersome to use and required the use of Vault items which was not requested by the customer. As the assemblies made by Hoerbiger are simple and given that Hoerbiger runs Vault in a fully replicated environment between Europe, USA and Asia, the use of item made the whole process more complicated than necessary.
