KVS Technology uses Autodesk Fusion 360 to Create World Class Drones

KVS Technology uses Autodesk Fusion 360 to Create World Class Drones

Customer challenge

KVS Technologies provides utilities with end-to-end solutions for inspection and digitalization of critical infrastructure. Their mission is to provide utility companies with a smarter, greener, and safer way to monitor the condition of their infrastructure. KVS advanced drones eliminates the need for traditional helicopter inspections, bringing an increased level of safety and efficiency to their customers’ operations, while also reducing carbon emissions. To create highly advanced drones that could reach the tough target criteria, KVS needed an efficient simulation tool that would allow collaboration between different parts of the organisation in the cloud, in real-time. Moreover, they were looking for a partner with vast industry and product knowledge to help them get started.

Project goals

After partnering up with Symetri, KVS set goals to work simultaneously in one master model and using the simulation in Fusion 360 to make faster decisions.

Solution

Fusion 360 was successfully implemented and the integrated simulation tools in Fusion 360 assisted KVS to quickly iterate as needed in development and provided the possibility to simulate exactly what was happening without any shortcuts. “In the FEA model for example, there is a function to do forced displacement which is often missing from other packages, forcing designers to do workarounds but when we have the feature as part of the software it makes for a much better simulation." “KVS is also using Fusion 360’s cloud feature extensively. Especially during the pandemic, when many are working from home that is helping us tremendously," Andrzej Tunkiel, Senior Mechanical Engineer at KVS Technologies.

Business outcome

With the capabilities in Fusion 360 and guidance from Symetri, KVS can now simulate more efficiently, save valuable time and assure quality when collaborating in the cloud in the Master model. “As a Symetri customer we know that product experts are available at all times. They help us with the training needed to bring these products to life," Steffen Solberg, Systems Architect at KVS Technologies.

Conclusion

KVS can effectively deliver their service overlooking power grids in Norway to ensure that millions of people will always have a steady and reliable supply of electricity - with the help of world class drones.
