Success Story

LRS Architects Decreased Sync Time by 90% with Topcon Solutions

LRS Architects Decreased Sync Time by 90% with Topcon Solutions

Customer challenge

LRS Architects (LRS) is an award-winning architecture and interiors firm located in Portland, OR that works on projects for auto, civic, multifamily, office, workplace, retail and senior living. When the COVID-19 pandemic happened in 2020, LRS saw a need to find a better way to collaborate remotely with one another. Through coordination with Topcon Solutions, the LRS team was destined to find a solution that would greatly improve their business operations.

Project goals

LRS had two key goals in mind: 1) Improve the firm’s internal design collaboration process during remote work 2) Reduce the overall sync times for Revit models

Solution

After a review of LRS’ needs, Topcon Solutions quickly helped LRS implement BIM 360 Design for improved collaboration and to leverage the power of Revit cloud work-sharing to reduce the time it takes to sync a Revit model. Additional services for LRS included BIM 360 Design project set-up, folder structure set-up, an overview of document management functionality within BIM 360 Design and regular check ins to answer questions on BIM 360 Design to ensure customer and project success.

Business outcome

Following the movement of multiple Revit projects to BIM 360 Design, LRS has found tremendous success with the tool. LRS notes their teams saw what previously took them 20 minutes to sync a Revit model over a VPN is now down to around 2 minutes as they’ve leveraged BIM 360 Design, which equates to a 90% decrease in sync time. According to their BIM Manager, the time savings ‘itself has paid for the software.’

Conclusion

Topcon Solutions not only provided LRS the opportunity to connect remote teams during the COVID-19 pandemic but helped them leverage BIM 360 Design to drastically reduce Revit model sync times. Helping this firm’s team reduce sync time to the level it’s at now has lasting impacts on the operations and efficiency concerning projects. LRS is pleased with the results they’ve seen with implementing this tool with Topcon Solutions and continues to execute on key projects in the Portland area.
