Transformation of Optio Marine Using Autodesk Architecture, Engineering & Construction Collection

Customer challenge

Optio Marine is an autonomous marine consultant that offers a full range of services to the maritime and oil and gas sectors, including design, engineering, and project management. We provide intelligent, tailored solutions that cover the whole engineering and operating cycles for all sorts of maritime and offshore vessels. We are led by a talented, creative, and adaptable staff of Master Mariners, Naval Architects, and Marine Engineers. To improve every marine procedure, our innovative engineering solutions are customized with expert knowledge and cutting-edge technology.

Project goals

The Autodesk software's 3D design platform allows the design crew to better envision their emerging concepts and automatically avoid most disputes with other disciplines. When the models are merged in Autodesk Revit for formal project assessments, undetected flaws are revealed. The combination of model-based collision detection and cloud-based Autodesk BIM 360 communication between the extended design team and the client decreases the time spent resolving clashes.

Solution

With the Autodesk Architecture, Engineering & Construction collections range of toolsets with their expert multidisciplinary team. Optio Marine have created a collaborative work flow in managing changes and comments during the complete design lifecycle. Plant 3D ability to import and manipulate point cloud information aides in carrying out bespoke brownfield modifications to ships and energy projects. The synchronous exchange of data between the Autodesk Architecture, Engineering & Construction collections toolsets allows hassle free transfer of 3D models and information from Plant 3D to Autodesk Advance Steel for further detailing and fabrication deliverables preparation.

Business outcome

All six steps of our services would possibly involve the usage of Autodesk Revit and Autodesk Architecture, Engineering & Construction Collection such as Concept design, Basic design, Detail design, Retrofit & Conversion, Project management and Consultancy & Specialized engineering

Conclusion

All this access to Autodesk Architecture, Engineering & Construction and Autodesk Revit with the base of Plant design were only possible due to KKM. Soft. Pvt.ltd who are the gold partner of Autodesk. Furthermore, the project's success has motivated Optio marine to push the adoption of Autodesk Revit & Autodesk Architecture, Engineering & Construction technology for its other projects by mandating the project deliveries from its other project designers and contractors.

Integration of Client Electronic Database Management system (EDMS) files with Forge Viewer.

L&T Construction unit has been using a EDMS for managing engineering drawings and for product data management. In that users are facing difficulties while marking up comments on the engineering drawings with lot of manual intervention. Also they face difficulty in comparing two 2D drawings / 3D Model to find the changes in revisions When coming into marking up of drawings, currently users need to download each and individual drawing from EDMS and take a print out and manually work on the markup to review and update their comments on the drawing file. Due to this difficulties, client consumed a lot of man hours and also manual checking process is tedious and cost consuming. Also in comparison of two drawings, users are comparing drawings in two tabs or two monitors. Comparing virtually will gets lot of errors and time consumption. Many time this process results in lots of human errors which results in rework and cost consuming
