Western Bainoona Group (WBG) has been a cornerstone in the development of Roads and Infrastructure projects in United Arab Emirates. Working with 3D Models was challenging for us. The challenge was to get our work done faster since we were not updated with the latest 3d tools. All our engineers are experienced in managing and drafting in 2D. So, we find the solution to move from 2d to 3d with Al Suwaidi and it gave our team much-needed exposure to understand the transition from 2d to 3d, 3d Models, and other benefits of knowing 3D modeling. Making the changes in 2d was a very time-consuming process as everything needed to update manually. But after getting exposure to Autodesk Civil 3D it has become easier as everything gets updated if the changes are being made.
Project goals
Western Bainoona Group, had the following goals in mind and one of it is to understand the 3d modeling in Autodesk Civil 3d. Next would be CAD drawings to align with the latest 3d Models and using the existing files in the Autodesk Civil 3d. Lastly, able to improve operational efficiency, simplify license management and optimize IT expenses.

BINLADIN CONTRACTING GROUP (BCG) was set up to incorporate various Binladin companies under a single association. Managing data and sharing data is a huge challenge for the company. Working with all of the different Departments of Engineering and merging all work done in one central location where each team can share their work and check clashes and errors is a difficult task. To share real- time models with Engineers working at different offices was one of the major challenges for BCG.

Preparing 2D drawings and sharing with stakeholders were not found easy since the comments, design changes, and markup required better understanding. We heard about BIM and its benefits including easy integration with CAD drawings and cloud collaboration to the stakeholders. We engaged to learn and practise BIM for the near future and current projects. Sharing models with revised comments and markups are so handy now to meet the project team ideas required in our RFIs. Finding clashes within our models and resolving them were tight with the 2D drafting process. Now, it is very understandable with quick solutions using BIM models and the necessary skills adopted to be more competitive.
