Issue:

When working (opening, navigating, saving, synchronizing) with a Revit model that contains steel elements in Revit, the following message appears:

Revit

An unrecoverable error has occurred. The program will now be terminated.
All of your data has been recently saved, so there is no need to create recovery files.

Error message

After closing the message, Revit shuts down.

Other characteristic symptoms:

  • This issue only occurs on a specific computer. The file can be used on other workstations.
  • The same file can be used in a different Revit language version on the same computer.
  • Unable to open only specific files or specific views.

If you are attempting to attach a database, retry the operation with the correct files. If this is an existing database, the file may be corrupted and should be restored from a backup.
'Could not open new database 'C:\PROGRAMDATA\AUTODESK\REVIT STEEL CONNECTIONS 2022\DE-DE\ASTORBASE.MDF'. CREATE DATABASE is aborted.
'An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit Steel Connections 2022\de-DE\AstorBase.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share.
'Log file 'C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit Steel Connections 2022\de-DE\AstorBase_log.ldf' does not match the primary file. It may be from a different database or the log may have been rebuilt previously.>
