Issue:

When trying to plot or view print preview with an HP printer, AutoCAD crashes.

Causes:

An old printer driver is causing the crash.

Solution:

Update to the latest Printer Driver

Update to the latest printer driver from HP website or try the HP Universal Print Driver. AutoCAD does best with non-PostScript drivers. Try the PCL5 driver first.
  • For printers on a network print server, try installing the driver for it as a local printer using a TCP/IP port.
  • Try setting FULLPLOTPATH to zero within AutoCAD (type this on the command line).

Repair the drawing

Try to remove any errors with AUDIT and PURGE command. See How to repair corrupt AutoCAD files.
