Can't download 3ds Max 2021 and 2022 updates from my Autodesk Account

Issue:

Downloading the update installers for 3ds Max is not possible, or after downloading 3ds Max 2021 or 2022 Update 1, 2 or 3 from your Autodesk Account and trying to install it, the message "at least one of the files required to install this update is missing" appears.

Environment:

  • 3ds Max 2021.1
  • 3ds Max 2021.2
  • 3ds Max 2021.3
  • 3ds Max 2022.1
  • 3ds Max 2022.2
  • 3ds Max 2022.3

Causes:

3ds Max Updates of versions 2021 and 2022 are full installations of 3ds Max. Each update consists of 4 separate files totaling 6 gigabytes in size. All 4 files are required for installation.

If a pop-up blocker is active on your Internet browser, this may have allowed only the first file to download but prevented the other 3 files from being downloaded successfully.

Solution:

3ds Max 2021.x and 2022.x updates consist of 4 different installation files:

3ds Max 2021

  •     Autodesk_3ds_Max_2021_EFGJKPS_Win_64bit_001_004.sfx.exe
  •     Autodesk_3ds_Max_2021_EFGJKPS_Win_64bit_002_004.sfx.exe
  •     Autodesk_3ds_Max_2021_EFGJKPS_Win_64bit_003_004.sfx.exe
  •     Autodesk_3ds_Max_2021_EFGJKPS_Win_64bit_004_004.sfx.exe

3ds Max 2022
  •     Autodesk_3ds_Max_2022_EFGJKPS_Win_64bit_001_004.sfx.exe
  •     Autodesk_3ds_Max_2022_EFGJKPS_Win_64bit_002_004.sfx.exe
  •     Autodesk_3ds_Max_2022_EFGJKPS_Win_64bit_003_004.sfx.exe
  •     Autodesk_3ds_Max_2022_EFGJKPS_Win_64bit_004_004.sfx.exe


Note: 3ds Max updates are inclusive of all previous fixes and feature improvements. To update 3ds Max 2021 or 2022 to the latest version, download and install 3ds Max 2021.3 or 3ds Max 2022.3 only. (There's no need to download and install updates 1 and 2, respectively.)

Download the files:

  1. In an Internet browser, open your Autodesk Account and log in.
  2. On the left side, navigate to Product Updates.
  3. Search for the related 3ds Max 2021 or 2022 update:
  1. Click Download.
  2. Notice the pop-up blocker warning on the upper right screen (example with Chrome browser):
  1. Click on the pop up blocker icon and set Always allow pop-ups...
  1. Confirm by clicking Done.
  2. If the download of all 4 required installation files does not start automatically, repeat the download from the Autodesk Account.
  3. Once all files have downloaded, double-click on the first file to start the installation process. Example: Autodesk_3ds_Max_2021_EFGJKPS_Win_64bit_001_004.sfx.exe


To check the browser pop-up settings (for example, when using Chrome):

  1. Click on the Settings icon to open the settings:
  1. In the search field enter pop to find the related settings:
  1. Check if the settings at Pop-ups and redirects are set to Allow for the page manage.autodesk.com:
