Issue:

User's have asked how to define/set multiple work coordinate systems (WCS) in Fusion Manufacture Setup dialog and accomplish the following:

  • Post Processing g-code with unique machine offsets (G54, G55, G154 P1, etc.).
  • Post Multiple Setups at one time.
  • Machining a part that is placed, for example with G56, and getting the same program on another position with G57.

Solution:

Creating Multiple Setups

To create multiple WCS in Fusion, a new CAM setup for each WCS has to be created. Each of these CAM setups will be linked to a Machine Offset through the "Post Process" tab.

Post Process Tab in the Setup dialog
  • Program Name/ Number: This is what the g-code file generated after post processing will be named.
  • Program Comment: Comments written here will be written into posted g-code.
  • WCS Offset: This is where the Machine Offset number will be entered. Values of 0 and 1 refer to G54, a value of 2 refers to G55, a value of 3 refers to G56, and so on.
    • For example, if creating toolpaths for a machining operation using G55 as its Machine Offset, enter 2 in the WCS offset box for the posted g-code to reference G55 instead of G54 (the default). For information on extended work offsets, refer to the figure:

Note: After creating a CAM setup and defining its WCS Offset, activate that setup by hovering over the setup folder and clicking in the white circle shown next to the setup name.

Select white circle next to the setup folder

Posting multiple setups

Once a CAM setup has been activated, all operations created will reference the machine offset specified as the WCS in the activated setup. To post multiple setups at one time:
  1. Hold Ctrl (Windows) or CMD (macOS) and click the setup to be posted.
  2. Right click a setup and select Post Process or select Post Process from the Toolbar with the desired Setups selected.

Note: Posted G-code will also reference the machine offset specified for each operation through the CAM setups. An example of posted code referencing both G54 and G55 (Machine Offsets #1 and #2) is shown:
