File Dialog does not appear in Revit 2020 when clicking the File Ribbon Tab

Issue:

When clicking on the Revit File Ribbon Tab, the File dialog (open) menu does not appear.

Status:

This incident has been resolved in:

Revit 2020.2

To install updates, open the Autodesk desktop app and click My Updates. To install a new version of your Autodesk software, open the Autodesk desktop app, sign in, and click My Products. To use a web browser to install updates or a new version, sign in to Autodesk Account. (Your access to new versions or updates depends on your Autodesk software entitlements.)

Additional Information:

When the Group Policy setting "Do not keep history of recently opened documents" is Enabled, the File menu in Revit 2020 does not function.

Workaround:

To avoid this issue:

  1. Open the Group Policy Editor.
  2. Browse to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar.
  3. Find and Disable the setting for "Do not keep history of recently opened documents".
