"Serial number invalid" (Subscription product)

Issue:

When activating an older version of an Autodesk product that is covered under Subscription, a "Serial number invalid" error message is displayed.

Causes:

Your subscription account might list the serial number for the earlier product with an "Updated" status, which disables automatic activation.

Solution:

Manually activate the software (see Activate offline with an activation code (perpetual license)).
