Issue:

When post processing tapping cycles in Autodesk Fusion, Inventor CAM, or HSMWorks, the following error log is seen:

Error: Unsupported speed-feed synchronization activation command.
Error in operation: ************
Failed while processing onCycle() for record ***.
###############################################################################
Error: Unsupported speed-feed synchronization activation command.
Error in operation: 'Drill1 (2)'
Failed while processing onCycle() for record 392.
###############################################################################

Causes:

In certain post processors (like the Hurco 3D Post), all cycles are expanded. Tapping cycles require that the post processors spindle direction changes and synchronized speed_feed commands, which is not allowed in some posts.

This is explained in detail in the Post Processor Training Guide on page 4-120.

Solution:

To post process with tapping cycles:

  • Use a post that does support spindle direction changes and synchronized speed_feed commands. For example, the Hurco 3D post will give this error but the generic Hurco post will not.
  • Edit the original post processor to support spindle direction changes and synchronized speed_feed commands.
  • Some post processors have a property that needs to be enabled in Autodesk Fusion. For example, the ShopSabre with WinCNC control requires you to set Use Tapping Cycles to Yes in the Properties dialogue when post processing to successfully post tapping cycles.
