Products and versions covered

Causes:

The steps to convert a suite product to an industry collection product depends on what year it was released.

  • For 2016 and older versions, reinstall the products.

The serial number and product keys for Autodesk products are located in the ProductInformation.pit file under:
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ADLM\ProductInformation.pit.

2016 and older products - Reinstall products

Licensing information is encrypted and stored on your desktop. You can't use the same product key to activate an industry collection that you used to activate your suite. You'll need to reinstall your products.

2017 and newer products - Recreate the licensing file

  1. Go to the following folder:
    For 2017 products:
    C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS\<Product_Key>_2017.0.0.F
    For 2018 products:
    C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS\<Product_Key>_2018.0.0.F
    • If you can't locate the folder, see Show hidden files.
    • If the folder doesn’t exist, you'll need to create one.
Note: Replace <Product Key> with the product key for your collection product. To find your product key, sign in to your Autodesk Account at manage.autodesk.com.
  2. Delete any LGS.data files in the folder.
  3. Create a text file named LGS.data in the folder using a text editor.
  4. In the LGS.data text file, enter one of the following, in capital letters, on the first line of the file:
    • _STANDALONE (if your product license has a serial number)
    • _NETWORK
    • _USER (if your license is based on your Autodesk ID and does not have a serial number)
  5. Save the LGS.data file and close the text editor.
    Important:
    • Verify that your text editor did not save LGS.data with a hidden “.txt” extension. Make sure extensions aren't hidden.
    • For more information, see Switch a subscription with multi-user access.
  6. Restart your software.

Additional troubleshooting steps

If the previous steps don't work, try the following, one at a time. Test each one before trying the next.
  • Scan your system with antivirus software. If you find adware or malware, uninstall them.
  • Disable your antivirus software.
  • Reactivate your license:
    1. Verify that files and folders are not hidden, see Show hidden files.
    2. Go to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ADUT and remove all files.
    3. Go to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\WebService and remove the LoginState.xml file.
    4. Go to C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet and remove all files that begin with adskflex.
    5. Start your software and try to activate it.

Advanced troubleshooting

This step can save time but must be done with extreme care.
  • On a clean system install all* products from the industry collection and activate each product with individual serial numbers and product keys.
  • On desktops with activated suite products, back up the PIT file (located in ProductInformation_BAK.pit) and replace it with the one from the desktop with clean collection installations and activations.
    C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ADLM\ProductInformation.pit

* NOTE: You can't open products installed on older machines that were not installed on a clean system. Be cautious when installing AutoCAD and Revit products (such as AutoCAD Mechanical, MEP, and so on) on the clean system. Install and activate these products if they are present on the suite installations.
