Issue:

What is the best practice when configuring the Vault Job Processor user?

Can each Vault user run the Job Processor on their workstation?

Can any user login to the Job Processor with their credentials?

What permissions in Vault does the Job Processor require?

Causes:

  • Planning for Vault automation infrastructure
  • Configuring security in Vault to work with the Job Processor

Solution:

The best practice for the Vault Job Processor is to utilize a dedicated machine and user for each Job Processor.

Users can run the Job Processor on their workstation, however the performance impact may be significant depending on the number of tasks the Job Processor runs. Each task runs CAD tools in the background and downloads/uploads data for each one.

If users do login to the Job Processor then the Job Processor should be configured to login using a 'super user' account and not the same account that the user logs into Vault with.

The Job Processor 'super user' account can use the built in Vault Administrator account. However without any modifications this account does not have full permissions in Vault. The Vault Administrator will need to grant this account full Read/Write/Delete/Download permissions on every:

Each dedicated Job Processor system requires a unique Autodesk ID and license
