Issue:

  • Using a tip radiused tool in PowerMill it takes a long time to machine a surface due to a small Z increment.
  • How to generate a toolpath using parabolic milling cutter in PowerMill.

Solution:

To use a barrel tool in 5 axis toolpath:
 
  1. In the Ribbon area select Toolpath.
  2. In Strategy Selector click on Finishing->Flowline Finishing.
  3. In the Toolpath strategy select a Barrel Tool.
  4. In Flowline Finishing area select the embedded pattern.
  5. In Tool Axis area select Lead/Lean.
  6. In the Lean windows select the Angle.
  7. In the mode selection choose Contact normal.
  8. Click Calculate.
