Issue:

How to provide access to Revit or IFC data to someone that does not have a Revit or Autodesk license.

Solution:

There are several ways that Revit or IFC model data can be provided to others for review.
Note: Opening the model in Revit will provide the most complete access to the Revit data.

Can install Revit

Users that can install Revit can also use the free Revit Viewer Mode to open and review Revit models:

Can't install Revit

For the people that will be receiving the Revit data and cannot install Revit, here are other options:
Note: Some of these options are free, and some require a subscription to different Autodesk products.
  • Cloud viewers:
  • Applications that can natively open Revit or IFC models:
    • Navisworks Simulate/Manage - Subscription required - This program can natively open Revit and IFC files, and save to a format with a free viewer (NWD / NavisworksFreedom).
  • Other viewers (which can open files exported from Revit):
    • Design Review This is a free viewer that can open views exported from Revit to DWF (the designer would need to export and provide the DWFs)
    • AutoCAD DWG - Subscription required - DWG files can be exported from Revit (likely best as ACIS solids), and then viewed in AutoCAD

Products:

Autodesk 360; Revit Product Family;
