Issue:

This article describes how to transfer workspaces in one or more of the following cases:
  • Between workstations.
  • To a different version of AutoCAD.
  • Between different AutoCAD-based products.

Solution:

Transferring a workspace in AutoCAD and AutoCAD based products

  1. Determine the location of the source CUIX file where the customized workspace is saved.
NOTE: For different AutoCAD based products CUIX files are stored in various locations, for example:
  • For AutoCAD in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD XXXX\RXX\<language code>\Support
  • For Civil 3D in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\C3D XXXX\<language code>\Support
  1. Copy the CUIX file to the default location for the new AutoCAD version.
  2. Open the target version of AutoCAD.
  3. Enter CUI at the command line.
  4. Go to the Transfer tab.
  5. Under the Customizations in New File header, click Open and select the CUIX file in question.
Customize user interface window
  1. Expand the Workspaces header.
  2. Left-click and drag the workspace(s) to the menu under the Customizations in Main File header
  3. Click Apply and OK to close the dialog box.

Transferring a workspace in AutoCAD for network

  1. Copy the CUIX file to the network location.
  2. Set the correct path of CUIX file in the Profile.
  3. Export the AutoCAD products profile.
  4. Import the profile to the new computer.
