Issue:

To work with Fusion in an environment with proxy server and firewall, some adoptions are necessary. Especially when not all Fusion features are available.

Solution:

Features are limited in Fusion if a proxy server requires authentication and uses the ‘Negotiate’, ‘NTLM’, or ‘Kerberos’ authentication method. To fix this problem, a list of hosts can be added to the proxy server's exception list.

Proxy Server Settings

Specify exceptions for Fusion:
  1. From your start menu, search for Internet Options.
  2. Select the Connections tab and LAN Settings.
  3. In the Local Area Network (LAN) dialog box, enable the Proxy Server and click Advanced.
  4. Under Exceptions, enter the following addresses outlined in the article here: Ports and Domains required by Fusion.

Lan settings- Execeptions for proxy

Firewall Settings

Allow Fusion program files to communicate through the firewall:
  1. From your start menu, search for Windows Firewall.
  2. Select Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall.
  3. Select Allow Another App or Allow Another Program.
  4. Locate the following executable files:
    • Fusion360.exe
    • AdCefWebBrowser.exe
    • Node.exe
  • The executables are located within %localappdata%\Autodesk\webdeploy\production (C: > Users > %Uusername% > AppData > Local > Autodesk > webdeploy > production)
  • Note: The product folder contains one or more IDs unique to each build of Fusion installed on the computer. Use search in File Explorer to locate the EXE files in the ID folders. For example, Node.exe is contained within NODEJS folder
Select other network types (Home or Public) to allow.

Add proxy server information to Fusion Preferences

If a proxy server is causing a conflict with the Fusion installation or account login, install and configure Fusion on a different network and adjust the proxy server settings there:

  1. From the start menu, search for Internet Options.
  2. In the Connections tab, select LAN Settings and note the proxy settings.
  3. Install and start Fusion from a location that is not using a proxy server, such as at home.
    • Fusion - Preferences
  4. Under account name, select Preferences.
  5. Under Network, specify the proxy settings noted in step 2.
  6. Save the information and retry Fusion using the proxy server.
