Issue:

How to move drawing objects and line work to the origin in AutoCAD.

Solution:

Do the following:

To move one or more objects to the world (global) UCS

  1. Enable Dynamic Input (see How to enable or disable dynamic input in AutoCAD).
  2. Enter UCS on the command line.
  3. Press Enter again. The UCS will be moved back to the global UCS (WCS).
  4. Enter MOVE on the command line.
  5. Select the objects and press Enter.
  6. Select a base point for the objects.
  7. Enter #0,0 for the destination point for 2D drawings, #0,0,0 for 3D drawings.
Note: The # (pound sign or octothorpe) must be added before the coordinates, or the coordinates will be interpreted as displacement.

To move to the origin relative to the current UCS for the entire drawing

  1. Click on the UCS icon in model space to select it.
  2. Click it again and drag the UCS from the base point to the new location.
