Causes:

This is due to Autodesk Genuine Software (AGS) is flagged as an "Essential" installation item and when there is a higher version of AGS already installed, it will show the warning message.

Solution:

If you are using the product installer obtained from a Download or Custom Install download method , try replacing the original C:\Autodesk\productinstaller\x64\AGS\pkg.AGS.xml file in the installer package with the attached one .

  • For example, the default pkg.AGS.xml file location for Autodesk 3ds Max 2021 is C:\Autodesk\Autodesk_3ds_Max_2021_EFGJKPS_Win_64bit\x64\AGS\
NOTE: Depending on your Internet browser, the attached pkg.AGS.xml file may lose .xml extension or it may be replaced by .zip. If this occurs rename the downloaded file to pkg.AGS.xml and then replace the original file as mentioned above.

You may also ignore the message, the installation is successful and the product works.
