Issue:

When trying to install an Autodesk product, using the "Install Now" method, the software downloads, but gets stuck installing, the software installation fails, hangs, crashes, or indicates that the software has already been installed while it's not.

In some instances, the following message appears:

Error: Windows cannot find "AutodeskInstallNow.exe'

Causes:

Security setting is preventing the installation.

The "Install Now" method of installing an Autodesk software streamlines the installation (downloads and Installs the software simultaneously). In some instances, downloading software components may stop or be blocked with will fail the installation.

Solution:

To avoid this error, use the following processes:

Alternative Download Methods:

  1. Perform a Clean Uninstall of the product: How to perform a Clean Uninstall of Autodesk products on Windows
  2. Use other methods to obtain new installation files:
Note: Always download new installation files. Do not reuse the original install files.

Repair Product Installation:

If using the Install Now method, the product installer may detect the software as been installed if the failed installation attempt has resulted a partial software installation.  In this case, use the Microsoft Installation Troubleshooter to clean the system from partially installed software components.

Manual Installation Process:

  1. Sign in to Windows as an administrator.
  2. Empty the Temp folder: How to delete temporary files in Windows.
  3. Disable all antivirus software (re-enable afterward).
  4. Disable User Account Control (re-enable afterward).
  5. Download the Autodesk product through the Autodesk Account.

Note: Some software downloads in multiple parts. Keep all parts in the same folder (which would typically be the Downloads folder on the system).

  1. Double-click on the first file (the file that has 001 in its name) to start the installation process.
Note: None, one, or more of the above steps may or may not be needed to ensure a good installation.
