Issue:

When working with Revit Cloud Workshared models that contain files linked through Desktop Connector:

  • The version of the linked files might not be updated.
  • There are no Desktop connector notifications that the files have been updated.
  • The files are not automatically reloaded.
  • The linked files might have 'Error' status when browsing the Desktop Connector folder structure.

Solution:

To get the linked models to be updated in Revit, try these steps:

  1. Close Revit.
  2. Browse to the linked models' location in the Desktop Connector folder structure.
  3. Right-click on the outdated files and select "Always keep on this device" (or "Sync" for older versions).
  4. Reopen the central model in Revit.

If the steps above don't resolve the issue, try one or more of the following:

  • Free up space:
    1. Close Revit.
    2. Browse to the linked models' location in the Desktop Connector folder structure.
    3. Right-click on the link folder and select Free up Space.
    4. Right-click on the link folder and select "Always keep on this device" (or "Sync" for older versions) and wait for the process to complete.
    5. Reopen the central model in Revit.
  • In Revit, sync the linked file to central and then publish it.
  • Make sure that all project members have Desktop Connector updated to the latest version.
  • Reinstall Desktop Connector. Note that uninstalling Desktop Connector removes all local data that hasn't been synced to the cloud project. If there is unsynced data, make a backup copy of any data in the local workspace that has not been synced with the project. See Collecting and Viewing Sync Data.
