Issue:

Where to find installation log files generated by Autodesk products.
These are useful for troubleshooting installation failures or issues.

Solution:

Recommended: Regardless of the product/version, all install logs can be collected with the Autodesk Installation Log Collection Tool.

Installation logs will be in a different directory, depending on whether the product is using the Classic Installer or the New Install Experience a.k.a. ODIS.

New Install Experience (ODIS - On-Demand Installation Services)

Products using ODIS will generate two types of log files:
  • ODIS installer logs. These are stored in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk\ODIS.

  • Product-specific logs. These are stored in the %TEMP% folder, the same as the Classic Installer.

Classic Installer

  1. Start Windows Explorer and type the string %TEMP% into the address field as shown in the following picture, followed by ENTER.
    • This is a symbolic notation valid for all Microsoft Windows operating systems and Windows will replace it with the actual folder path.

  1. The TEMP folder will open.
  2. To find the most recent log files, sort the files by "Date modified" and look for files with extension *.log and name as <software_name> Setup as shown in the following picture:
