Issue:
Users reported that objects and model geometry are flickering when opening an NWD, NWF, or NWC file in Navisworks. The status bar shows the continuous and looped operation of Navisworks.
Status:
This incident has been resolved in:
Autodesk Factory 2023.1.1 Update
A resolution is also planned in another future release.
To install updates, open the
Autodesk desktop app and click My Updates. To install a new version of your Autodesk software, open the Autodesk desktop app, sign in, and click My Products. To use a web browser to install updates or a new version, sign in to
Autodesk Account. (Your access to new versions or updates depends on your Autodesk software entitlements.)
Workaround:
Occlusion Culling
The use of
Occlusion Culling can make the flickering occur faster, try turning this off, and see if the display is improved.
Disable add-in
If the Factory Utilities are being used in other software, but are not needed within Navisworks, you can disable the FactNWApplication_R20XX.bundle by going through the following steps:
- Close Navisworks.
- Go to the following path in Windows:
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins
- Find the FactNWApplication_R20XX.bundle folder and move it to another folder (for example C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins_Disabled).
- Start Navisworks, and confirm that the Factory Ribbon tab is gone (and that the flickering is no longer occurring).
Fix Z-Fighting
This flickering seems to occur with objects that are occupying the same space. To clear the behavior, you can modify the model in the original design software so that the geometry does not overlap. Alternatively, you could hide the overlapping elements (Ctrl + H), so that just one of the overlapping items is displayed.
Uninstall Factory Utilities
If none of the previous options will work for you, it may be necessary to uninstall the Factory Design Utility to prevent flickering.
