Point clouds refresh slowly when selected or when Apply Lighting is enabled in Navisworks

Issue:

Users reported that RCP/RCS in Navisworks refresh in fragments when the point cloud is selected or Apply Lighting is enabled.
Appended Point cloud reloads each time by changing the viewport (orbiting or zooming).
Chunks of the point cloud data are blinking (the same area renders multiple times).
Changing the "Lighting" setting noticeably changes the refresh behavior.

Solution:

Try one of the following:

Use a different version of Navisworks to display point cloud data.
Disable the "static_buffers" option as described in the article: Slow performance while navigating through the model in Navisworks.
Change display system to Basic as described in the article: Point clouds in RCP appear decimated when selected, in Clash Detective results or when Apply Lighting is checked in Navisworks.
