Issue:

Revit Server requires that Anonymous authentication be enabled for most of its application pools, if this is disabled then it may stop functioning.

No logging will be made for the affected application pool (e.g. no ModelService.log file is created when trying to interact with the host server).

Solution:

Enable Anonymous Authentication

  1. On local server where Revit Server is installed, open Internet Information Service (IIS) Manager.
  2. Expand the list of Connections and click on 'Default Web Site'.
  3. In IIS, click on the 'Authentication' icon.
  4. Then enable 'Anonymous Authentication'.
