Licensing Error: "Establish an Internet connection to continue" due to automatic configuration script for LAN

Issue:

When you start an Autodesk product for Windows, you see the following error message:

Establish an Internet connection to continue

The Autodesk license server cannot be found. This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:
  • Internet connectivity has been lost.
  • The Autodesk license server is temporarily unavailable.

Solution:

Check the Internet Options settings for your Local Area Network (LAN)

  1. Open the Control Panel and type Internet Options in the search box.

  1. Click Internet Options.
  2. On the Connections tab of the Internet Properties dialog box, click LAN Settings.
  3. In the LAN Settings dialog box, confirm that Automatically Detect Settings is not selected. The dialog box should look like this:

  1. Click OK.
  2. Install Transport Layer Security (TLS) updates corresponding to your Autodesk software and version.
  3. Complete the following settings if you have an Autodesk 2016 or later product or have applied the Autodesk POODLE hotfix.
a. In the Internet Properties dialog box, select the Advanced tab.
b. Scroll down, find, and select the following settings:
  • Use TLS 1.2
  • Use TLS 1.3 (if you see it).
