Licensing Error: "Establish an Internet connection to continue" due to Internet security settings

Issue:

When you start an Autodesk product for Windows, you see the following error message:

Establish an Internet connection to continue

The Autodesk license server cannot be found. This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:
  • Internet connectivity has been lost.
  • The Autodesk license server is temporarily unavailable.

Environment:

Autodesk 2014 and 2015 products

Solution:

  1. If you have a 2014 or 2015 product and haven’t applied the Autodesk POODLE hotfix, do so now.
  2. Install Transport Layer Security (TLS): Updates Required to Maintain Software Access
  3. Open the Control Panel and type Internet Options in the search box.
  4. Click Internet Options.
Establish Internet connection error
  1. On the Advanced tab of the Internet Properties dialog, scroll down to find and select the following settings:
  • Use TLS 1.2
  • Use TLS 1.3 (if you see it)
