Built-in ZDepth AOV in Arnold shows solid white in the Arnold render view

Issue:

When rendering the built-in ZDepth AOV in Arnold for Autodesk Maya 2017, the rendering seems to be solid white.

Causes:

As the ZDepth values are non-normalized they are not between the 0 and 1 range.

Solution:

Decrease the exposure in the Arnold Render View to see the result of the Z-Depth AOV.
