Issue:

Characters that are not allowed for Revit cloud projects.

Causes:

If you attempt to rename a model/folder/account with one of these forbidden characters, you will see the following error:
EnvironmentError
Docs File< > : " / \ | ? * ` are not allowed in file names.
Docs Folder< > : " / \ | ? * ` are not allowed in folder names.
Docs AccountNo Error
BIM 360 FileThe following special characters aren't allowed < > : " / \ | ? * ` .
BIM 360 Folder< > : " / \ | ? * ` are not allowed in folder names
BIM 360 AccountNo Error
WindowsA file name can't contain any of the following characters: \ / : * ? " < > |

Solution:

Forbidden Characters

As seen in the table below most of these characters should be blocked from file/folder name creation, but these characters may be introduced through different operating systems or legacy files/folders. To avoid unexpected behavior when working with these files, ensure that they are not being used for cloud models, folders, or account names:

Note: Spaces at the end or beginning of a name, potentially introduced when copying/pasting names, have also been seen to cause issues: No Revit files show in the 'External Links' section and cloud files are unable to be linked in Revit
