Issue:

When trying to access Revit Server from the Open dialog box in Revit, the following error message appears:

Operation Could Not Be Completed

This operation could not be completed. Please
try again.

If you are collaborating on a model using the cloud or Revit
Server, check your network connection.

If the problem persists, save any changes to the models
locally.

The journal may contain the following entries:
 

' 0:< Retry Count: 0 . Caught exception:  
' 0:< Autodesk.RevitServer.Enterprise.Common.ClientServer.Helper.Exceptions.ProxyGenerationException: A problem occurred generating a proxy for the client action, Client Action = BasicAction, Target Node = [Server Name], Binding Name = tcpbuffer 
' 0:< System.ServiceModel.EndpointNotFoundException: The message could not be dispatched because the service at the endpoint address 'net.tcp://servername/ModelService2020/ModelService.svc/tcpbuffer' is unavailable for the protocol of the address. 
' 0:< Time: 10-30-2019 11:13:56:184 Calling: ListSubFoldersAndModels 
' 0:< Retry Count: 1 . Caught exception:

Causes:

One of the following:​​​​​​
  • Not all required prerequisites are installed on the local server with Revit Server.
  • Access to Model Service SVC on Windows Server denied. 

Solution:

Follow the steps below to resolve this issue:

  1. Ensure that all required prerequisites are installed on the local server depending on Windows Server version: 2008 R2, 2012 or 2012 R2, 2016 and 2019.
  2. If the above step did not help. check all the settings according to this article: How to check if an installation of Revit Server is working properly.
  3. Ensure that all folders on the Windows Server allow access for all users in the network group.
  4. Ensure that the %TEMP% folder on the Windows Server allows connection to the Windows user profile and has set full control for users.
