Issue:

Transforming the Coordinate System of a Drawing does not work and an error message appears in Autodesk® AutoCAD® Civil 3D®.
Error: Cannot transform Object. Point cannot be transformed to Lat/Long
The used coordinate system is ETRS89 based.

Causes:

A possible cause of this issue is the use of long notation of coordinates, for example x = 33500000 for ETRS89 UTM 33.

Solution:

  • Civil 3D expects the coordinates written in short notation
  • For example for ETRS89 UTM 33 use x = 500000 instead of x = 33500000
  • If needed move all entities to x = -33000000 (enter MOVE followed by X,Y,Z in the command line)
