Issue:

When plotting from AutoCAD, certain text does not show the expected lineweight that has been setup in the file, regardless of whether the lineweight was assigned through a style or directly in the drawing.

Solution:

TrueType fonts do not print with lineweights. The nature of TrueType fonts is a pixel-filled outline. If fonts with a specific lineweight are needed, use SHX fonts. To make TrueType text bold, use the Bold option in the Multiline Text Editor.

The following are other methods to achieve the desired effect:
  • For TrueType fonts, if the TEXTFILL variable setting is off (0), set the LWDEFAULT variable to the desired value (greater than 25, which is the default) and use the Hide option to view the text.

  • If the software has the option, use the Explode Text command from the AutoCAD Express Tools to explode the TrueType fonts to linear and arc-segmented drawing objects and then assign lineweights to those entities.

Note: AutoCAD Express Tools is not available for AutoCAD LT software.
