Issue:

A macOS update overwrites the auto_master file, deleting the /hosts entry.  The /hosts entry being removed prevents Flame from sending projects to other Flame workstations on the Stone+Wire network.

Environment:

macOS 11.6 and newer.

Solution:

To avoid this behavior in Flame, follow the guidance in Unable to see other Flame workspaces or projects from macOS Flame.   To prevent the operating system from overwriting the /etc/auto_master configuration file in the future, make the file immutable:
  • sudo chflags schg /etc/auto_master

Note: To revert changes to allow editing of the file, perform the following:
  • sudo chflags noschg /etc/auto_master

Products:

Flare; Flame; Flame Assist;
