Issue:

It is not possible to make any changes such as creating, adding, or editing any object (Change Order, Item, File, or Custom Object) in Vault. Also, Copy Design or any other action that makes any changes that would modify a database cannot be used.
  • For example, the following message is displayed while checking in a file from Inventor:

"The server returned the following information: An error occurred in the database. Please review server logs for detail."

  •  Also, a message may appear for some operations that are being performed from Vault:
          "An error occurred while attempting to delete a file."

          "An error has occurred while indexing information for search. See the server log for detail"

More details:
Error: 1827, Severity: 16, State: 1.
CREATE DATABASE or ALTER DATABASE failed because the resulting cumulative database size would exceed your licensed limit of 10240 MB per database.

Error: 1101, Severity: 17, State: 12.
Could not allocate a new page for database '<database>' because of insufficient disk space in filegroup 'PRIMARY'. Create the necessary space by dropping objects in the filegroup, adding more files to the filegroup, or setting autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup.

Causes:

  • This is not a limitation of Autodesk software. The database has reached the size limit imposed by Microsoft SQL Express.
  • SQL express is the default SQL edition installed with Vault and is the free version of Microsoft SQL

Solution:

Products:

Vault Basic; Vault Professional; Vault Workgroup;
