Issue:

Users reported that when trying to link a Revit Cloud file, models for some teams are not showing in certain folders using the External Resources option. Models are visible in the web browser in the corresponding BIM 360 Document Management folder.

Status:

This incident has been resolved in:

Revit 2021.1

To install updates, open the Autodesk desktop app and click My Updates. To install a new version of your Autodesk software, open the Autodesk desktop app, sign in, and click My Products. To use a web browser to install updates or a new version, sign in to Autodesk Account. (Your access to new versions or updates depends on your Autodesk software entitlements.)

Additional Information:

One or more models in the folder were renamed and then a new package published (leading to duplicate ids).

Confirm issue: Check the Journal file for the Revit session in which the issue is reproducible, and confirm that an entry like the following is recorded (If this entry is not found, then this article would not apply):
Exception: An item with the same key has already been added.

Workaround:

Duplicate is known

  1. Delete or move the renamed file to a location outside the Consumed / Shared folders.
  2. Have the team that owns the model re-share a package and then consume it.

Duplicate is unknown

  • Compare the source team folder files with the Consumed / Shared folder

  1. In a Browser open the BIM 360 Document Management folder with the live files.
  2. In a separate Browser Window / Tab open the Consumed / Shared folders.
  3. Look for differences between the files in the Consumed / Shared folders and the live team folder.
  4. If found move the "extra" file(s) to another folder, and retry linking in Revit.
  • View File Activities: View cloud project through a browser, and use the View File Activities checking for copy, move or rename actions (use Filter if there are a lot of activities recorded). Move files found that have been renamed/copied/moved, to another folder and retry linking.

  • Empty Consumed/Shared folder, and re-consume packages

  1. Delete all of the models from the Consumed / Shared folder (which is not displaying files in Revit) using the BIM 360 website.
  2. Consume the desired packages, through Design Collaboration module.

    Prevention

To avoid this behavior, make sure that files placed in the Consumed / Shared folder were not duplicates, for example created as a Copy / Save As from another Revit file which was also placed in the Consumed / Shared folder.
