Issue:

When running AJAfw_update to update the AJA firmware in Flame, the following error appears and the firmware update fails:

Error: AJA driver not loaded ( /proc/driver/aja not available )

AJA driver not loaded

The dlConfigCheck or Hardware Validation tools displays the following:

AJA I/O board Kona-5 module ajantv2 loaded: FAILED

AJA I/O board Kona-5 module ajantv2 loaded: failed

Environment:

  • Linux
  • AJA Kona
  • Possible automated OS installation using SALT or similar.

Causes:

A possible cause is that the kernel installed in Linux is not the correct one.

Solution:

To avoid the behaviour, do the following:

  1. Reinstall the DKU (Driver and Kernel Utilities) to update or install the AJA driver.
  2. Update the firmware again using AJAfw_update.
  3. Make sure that the correct Linux kernel version is installed in the Flame system.
  4. If the problem persist, re-seat the AJA card and do the steps 1-2 again.
