Weld created by joint is automatically set to "Double weld" in Advance Steel

Issue:

Welds created by joint connections are automatically set to "Double weld" with the type "Fillet weld" in Advance Steel. It cannot be modified to a single weld, the option to change it is inactive (gray).

Double weld type set to Fillet weld

Causes:

The default "Weld type (Double weld)" is set as "Fillet weld" in AMangement tools - Defaults.

Solution:

Follow these steps below to set the default "Weld type (Double weld)" to "None" in Management Tools Defaults:

  1. Open Management Tools and go to Defaults.
  2. Go to Connecting elements and open welds category.
  3. Search for the setting "Weld type (Double weld)".
  4. Set it to "None"
  5. Open a new Advance Steel session.
  6. Open the model.
  7. Update all joint connections.
  8. Update the detail drawings.
