Issue:
Users may be asked to migrate an existing InfoWorks CS model into InfoWorks ICM. InfoWorks CS was the predecessor collection modelling software by Innovyze. In order to undertake this process the user should be provided with a transportable database .iwc or .iwt file. If a .iwm database file is sent then this must also have the corresponding GUID folder at the same level.
Please note that the ability to migrate InfoWorks CS models to InfoWorks ICM is coming to an end. It will no longer be possible once access to InfoWorks CS and ICM 2023.0 (or prior) has ceased.
Environment:
Disclaimer: The legacy software referenced herein is unsupported and may not be compatible with current systems or contain potential vulnerabilities. User assumes all risk associated with the installation and use thereof. Proceed at your own risk.
Users will require:
- InfoWorks CS (legacy installer attached to article)
- InfoWorks ICM 2023.0 or prior (functionality was removed in version 2023.1)
ICM 2023.0 (the first Autodesk release) can be downloaded from manage.autodesk.com as a 'custom install'
Solution:
With both pieces of software installed follow the steps below:
Open the 'IW CS Admin 16.5' program from the Start Menu
Open the database through the top menu bar. Option for Transportable Databases (.iwc and .iwt) shown:

Select the file you want to convert:

Once opened in the Admin interface right click on the top Database level. Select Export to InfoWorks ICM:

You will receive a prompt window. This allows you to select the data that you want to include in the migration file:

Click OK and a migration (.cs2icm) file of your naming will be created.
In InfoWorks ICM open the Database that you want to move the data into. Right click at the top database level and navigate to Import > Import model data from InfoWorks CS migration file:

Select the .cs2cim file you created and Open.
The data should be automatically imported. Due to differences in the database and network model structures some objects will appear differently. As an example RTC was a separate object in InfoWorks CS - it is therefore imported as a blank network with a scenario that contains the RTC as below. This should be copied into the relevant Network as appropriate.
