Issue:

When opening particular Revit models with audit or linking models to the host, the following schema conflict error appears:

Schema Conflict when Loading a File

The file being loaded is causing a conflict with the existing data in the model. What do you want to do?

Schema conflict when Loading a file

Causes:

  • A schema is defined by an add-on for storing data in the model's Extensible Storage.
  • Once a schema is loaded into the model, by an add-on, it remains in the model (sometimes, even if the add-on is not loaded).
  • When Revit opens a model containing a schema, this schema is loaded into memory and used for all projects that contain the same schema definition.
  • Conflict occurs when Revit loads second model (directly or as a link) which contains the same schema (unique identifier) but with a different definition.

Solution:

Revit 2025

Changes have been made with Revit 2025 release that have Fixed issues related to schema conflicts introduced in Revit 2024
