Issue:

The Tangent Snap feature is needed in AutoCAD while in a command (MOVE, PASTE, LINE, or CIRCLE for example).

Causes:

The standard Tangent Snap may not be easily accessed because no OSNAPs are selected, the OSNAP function is not toggled on, all OSNAPs are selected, or it may be that the Tangent Object Snap option is only needed temporarily.

Solution:

  1. Shift + right-click to bring up the OSNAP shortcut menu.
  2. Click on Tangent.
    • User-added image
  3. Select a target object.
    • User-added image
Alternatively, for some command, once initiated and placement location is requested, type TAN in the command line and press enter.
