Results shown on the wrong side of shell elements in Nastran In-CAD

Issue:

Shell elements can have a different result on each side of the element. In some circumstances, the result may be shown on the wrong side of the element. In other words, the result on the "top" of the shell is shown on the bottom face and vice versa.

Solution:

Reverse the normal direction for the shells that are showing the problem and re-run the analysis:
  1. Right-click on "Elements" in the browser and choose "Reverse Normals". This will show the current normal direction for the shell elements.
  2. Select the faces that you want to switch.
  3. Run the analysis. The results will now be shown on the proper side.
