Issue:

Specific P&ID objects from the Tool Palette are not working anymore in AutoCAD Plant 3D. A message will be shown in command line:

"The <class name> symbol could not be found in the current project.".

Causes:

Cause 1: Different graphical styles of the class

  • The symbol of one graphical style was added to the tool palette but was removed afterwards in Project Setup.
  • The second graphical style of that class is still available but still not added to the tool palette.
  • The tool palette is still pointing to the old graphical style.

Cause 2: Change of the projSymbolStyles.dwg

  • The current projSmbolStyles.dwg of the project was replaced by another one from another project.

Solution:

For both causes:
  1. Open Project Setup and switch to the specific P&ID class.
  2. Select the correct the symbol and click "Add to Tool Palette...".
