Issue:

What is the correct format of an RSN.ini file for Revit and for each function (Admin, Host, Accelerator) of the Revit Server?

Solution:

In all scenarios, the RSN.ini file should meet the same criteria as defined in the documentation:
  • The filename extension should be INI (not TXT).
  • List available Revit Server host instances, one in each line.
  • IP or server names can be used to include a Host Revit Server instance in the RSN.ini file.
  • The names of the servers are limited to 63 characters and cannot begin with an underscore ("_").

Example of RSN.ini on the Revit 2024 (client):
All available hosts are listed as IP addresses.

Example of RSN.ini file on the Revit Server 2023 (Admin):
RSN file configuration Revit Server.png

Note: In both Revit and Revit Server Accelerator RSN.ini file should still point to the Host instance, not to the Accelerator instance.
